Trump Once Admitted He Had “Conflict Of Interest” In Turkey Because Of “A Major Building In Istanbul”

And no one is surprised.

Without the Kurds, Donald Trump never would have been able to claim victory over ISIS, but loyalty with this “president” is a one-way street. Trump threw the world into chaos today with his decision to pull U.S. troops from positions in northern Syria ahead of an imminent Turkish military operation into the region, a move that will put Ankara’s troops against America’s Kurdish allies who have liberated the region from occupying ISIS forces.

Republicans’ jaws collectively dropped over Trump’s bizarre announcement.

The rest of us aren’t too surprised that a maniac like Trump would put lives in danger, but we’re also wondering what is in it for the grifting “president.” Washington Post columnist Brian Klaas quoted Trump, who in 2015 admitted to having a conflict of interest over his two Trump Towers in Turkey.

“I have a little conflict of interest because I have a major, major building in Istanbul…Two towers, instead of one,” Trump said at the time. “Not the usual one, it’s two. And I’ve gotten to know Turkey very well.”

This tweet did not age well.

And no one is surprised. Well, except for Trump’s own Defense Department that was left “completely stunned,” according to Pentagon officials.

Trump told the New York Times in 2016 that “the president can’t have a conflict of interest” because, he said, “the law is totally on my side.”

Trump vowed to keep his business empire separate, and handed over control of his commercial operations to sons Eric and Donald Jr. while he’s in office — but Trump has refused to divest from his business empire fully, and that just screams as a violation of the Emoluments Clause. But what the hell, it’s 2019, and the Constitution doesn’t seem to matter anymore. Meanwhile, Turkish forces will likely massacre the Kurds, but at least Trump’s businesses will thrive.

As a surprise to no one ever, just after Trump’s decision to withdraw troops from the region, Turkish air forces launched an airstrike against Kurdish targets in northeast Syria.

Trump made a national security decision while having a lucrative business relationship in the country that will benefit from his announcement. He’s painfully obvious in everything he does.  Trump doesn’t put America first. Trump puts Trump first.

Conover Kennard
Conover makes tea partiers cry as a hobby. She was Commander of Jade Helm15 during the failed takeover of the South. She's also one of the biggest arseholes on Twitter. At night, she can be found drinking Conservative tears while pulling off the wings of flies just because she can. She is the founder of a Marxist, Commie, Maoist, Socialist site and has contributed to several other sites, blah blah blah. She is an awful person but she doesn't like to brag about that.
