Donald Trump kicked off his day to make the anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack in history all about him as he took to his Twitter account to whine about his unfavorable poll numbers, CNN and MSNBC, China, tariffs, retweeted Fox News pundits, and screamed that the Federal Reserve should bring its “interest rates down to ZERO, or less” which is a jaw-droppingly stupid idea.
Trump targeted a new ABC News/Washington Post poll that was released Tuesday, showing Trump’s approval rating at 38 percent among Americans, with 56 percent disapproving of his performance in the White House. And of course, he mentioned “Crooked Hillary” and “Sleepy Joe” then threw out his “Pocahontas” slur for Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
In contrast, former President Barack Obama shared his 9/11 tribute on Twitter, “remembering those we lost on 9/11, we also remember the spirit of unity and togetherness that defined the weeks and months after.”
As we remember those we lost on 9/11, we also remember the spirit of unity and togetherness that defined the weeks and months after. On this day of service, I’m reflecting on all those still working to embrace that spirit, today and every day. https://t.co/y8x9PVcwDl

Twitter users were delighted to read a real leader’s tweet on this solemn occasion.
A presidential tweet from a presidential President.
Thank you, @BarackObama.

Thank you so much, Mr. President. Much better than proposing a meeting with the taliban on this day.

But wait, why aren’t you posting pics of yourself, touting your ‘08 & ‘12 election victory margins & attacking the press??!

You tweet and I tear up 😢 Everytime! Know that your wisdom and steady hand in times of trouble is sorely missed! It is comforting though to know you are still with us! The whole world feels that way! RIP to those who fell 😔

Thanks Mr. President for the kind words… we will #NeverForget those we lost on 9/11 & we will never forget what it was like to have a real President like you.

Americans needed to see President Obama’s unifying words instead of waking up to a septuagenarian’s massive hissy-fit on Twitter on a day meant to grieve for those who died on 9/11.
