Donald Trump held a rally in New Hampshire on Thursday night and, as a shock to no one ever, things got kind of weird. Now, we’re not talking about weird in the sense that he lied, or exaggerated his crowd size as usual, but weird in the sense that he accidentally fat-shamed one of his own supporters.
Trump, who is obese and has an affection for Kentucky fried chicken, and resists any form of exercise, mocked someone as overweight at his rally thinking he was a protestor – but, as it turns out, the former reality show star’s target was Frank Dawson, a 31-year law enforcement officer and a veteran of the United States Navy – who is a staunch supporter of the ‘president.’
Trump mocked Dawson after mistaking him for a protester even though he was wearing a t-shirt and hat in support of his president.
The obese president called his own supporter “overweight.”
“That guy has got a serious weight problem. Go home, get some exercise,” Trump said to Dawson after a disruption from protestors.
We haven’t even gotten to the weird part yet. Even after Trump fat-shamed him, Dawson expressed his love for the former reality show star.
Fox News’ Griff Jenkins interviewed Dawson after the rally and this is where the ‘weird’ part comes in.
“Turns out, he was talking to you,” Jenkins said to Dawson.
“He was, because he didn’t see me rip the signs away from those three people that were sitting near us, and they were trying to cause a ruckus,” Dawson said, adding that “it wasn’t going to happen beside me because I’m trying to listen to my president.”
“But I think he thought I was part of it, but I wasn’t, I was the good part of it,” Dawson continued.
Dawson then told Jenkins: “Everything’s good, I love the guy, he’s the best thing that ever happened to this country.”
And after that, Trump issued a rare apology.
President Trump called and left a voicemail apologizing to the man he mocked as overweight, a White House official says. He confused him for a protester last night in New Hampshire. “That guy’s got a serious weight problem,” Trump said. “Go home. Start exercising.”

So, it’s OK for Trump to fat-shame anyone who is not a Trump supporter. This is not a good way to win over support while the economy is suddenly not looking too good.
Regardless of whether Trump thought Dawson was a protester, the ‘president’ did mock his weight, but his own supporter is apparently too stupid to realize that. You can’t make this stuff up.
